Applications Trimethylamine is used as a reagent in the synthesis of L-Carnitine (C184110); an essential cofactor of fatty acid metabolism. L-Carnitine is required for the transport of fatty acids through the inner mitochondrial membrane and is synthetized primarily in the liver and kidney.
