    BMS-816336 is a purine derivative that inhibits protein synthesis. It has been shown to have a significant effect on lowering blood pressure in women with high blood pressure and/or body mass indices (BMI) over 30 kg/m2. BMS-816336 has also been shown to increase insulin sensitivity in mice by reducing the levels of fatty acids and volatile fatty acids, which are metabolites that can cause insulin resistance. The molecular modeling of this drug showed that it binds to the active site of eEF1A, an enzyme involved in the process of protein synthesis.
