:Risedronate
Description:
Risedronate is a bisphosphonate medication primarily used to treat osteoporosis and other conditions that lead to bone loss. It functions by inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, thereby increasing bone mineral density and reducing the risk of fractures. The chemical formula for risedronate is C7H10N2O7P2, and it features a pyridinyl group, which contributes to its biological activity. Risedronate is typically administered orally and is known for its relatively high bioavailability compared to other bisphosphonates. It is characterized by its stability under physiological conditions and its ability to bind to hydroxyapatite in bone tissue. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, and it is important for patients to remain upright for a period after taking the medication to minimize esophageal irritation. Risedronate is often prescribed in various dosing regimens, including daily, weekly, or monthly options, depending on the specific clinical scenario. Overall, risedronate plays a significant role in managing bone health, particularly in postmenopausal women and individuals at risk for osteoporosis.

CAS:
Risedronic acid monohydrate is a bisphosphonate that inhibits bone resorption by inhibiting the activity of osteoclasts. It is used to treat postmenopausal women with osteoporosis and bowel disease, as well as to prevent bone loss in men with prostate cancer. Risedronic acid monohydrate has been shown to be more effective than alendronate for decreasing bone mineral density in women with breast cancer who have undergone chemotherapy. Risedronic acid monohydrate binds to the active site of the enzyme polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and blocks DNA synthesis, preventing the formation of new cells. Risedronic acid monerate also binds to the active site of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), thereby blocking their ability to inhibit cyclooxygenase enzymes, which are responsible for prostaglandin synthesis. This leads to reduced inflammation and pain.
Formula:C7H11NO7P2·H2OPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:301.13 g/molRisedronic Acid-d4, 13C
