CAS:
Clethodim sulfoxide is a chlorinating agent that can be used as a pesticide. It is a chemical by-product of clethodim and clethodim sulfoxide that is generated in the process of chlorinating acetonitrile. Clethodim sulfoxide can be found in foodstuffs, such as kidney beans, and is present at maximum concentrations of 10 mg/kg. The presence of this chemical has been validated using the sample preparation technique fluorophore and an analytical method called electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). Clethodim sulfoxide binds to the active site of the enzyme cytochrome P450, which is involved in many metabolic pathways, including xenobiotic metabolism. Clethodim sulfoxide also inhibits DNA gyrase, which breaks down dna topoisomerase I, leading to cell death.
Clethodim sulfoxide can cause kidney damage and has been shown to cause
Formula:C17H26ClNO4SPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:375.91 g/mol
