Description:
MOPS, or 3-(N-morpholino)propanesulfonic acid, is a zwitterionic buffer commonly used in biological and biochemical research. It has a pKa value around 7.15, making it particularly effective for maintaining physiological pH in various applications, especially in cell culture and protein studies. MOPS is soluble in water, and its buffering capacity is optimal in the pH range of approximately 6.5 to 7.9. The structure of MOPS includes a morpholine ring, which contributes to its stability and effectiveness as a buffer.
