:Clopidogrel
Description:
Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet medication primarily used to prevent blood clots in patients with cardiovascular diseases, such as those who have experienced a heart attack or stroke. It functions as a prodrug, meaning it requires metabolic activation to exert its therapeutic effects. Clopidogrel selectively inhibits the P2Y12 adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptor on platelets, thereby preventing platelet aggregation. The substance is typically administered orally and is well-absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, although its bioavailability is affected by first-pass metabolism. Clopidogrel is characterized by its relatively low solubility in water and is often formulated as a bisulfate salt to enhance its stability and absorption. The drug has a half-life of approximately 8 hours, but its antiplatelet effects can last for several days due to irreversible binding to the P2Y12 receptor. Common side effects may include bleeding complications, gastrointestinal disturbances, and, in rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions. Overall, Clopidogrel plays a crucial role in the management of thrombotic disorders.

CAS:Controlled Product
Methyl (2S)-2-(2-chlorophenyl)-2-(9-thia-4-azabicyclo[4.3.0]nona-7,10-dien-4-yl)acetate, also know as Clopidogrel, is a potent inhibitor of the platelet aggregation. It reduces blood clotting by inhibiting the ADP receptor on the surface of platelets, thereby inhibiting the aggregation and adhesion of platelets. Clopidogrel has been shown to be effective in preventing thrombosis, myocardial infarction (heart attack), and stroke. Clopidogrel inhibits the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) and p2Y 12 receptors. Clopidogrel has been shown to have synergic effects with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The polymorphic nature of Clopidogrel can be monitored using a liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method for quantification in biological samples such as human serum and plasma.
Formula:C16H16ClNO2SPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:321.82 g/mol
