The biosynthesis of 7,8-Dehydro Pregnenolone involves three steps: firstly, cholesterol undergoes hydroxylation by cytochrome P450scc to form pregnenolone; secondly, pregnenolone is converted to progesterone through the action of 3β-HSD; finally, progesterone undergoes dehydrogenation by 3α-HSD to form 7,8-dehydroprogesterone.
