    3',4'-Dihydroxyacetophenone is a transcription-polymerase chain inhibitor that is used in the laboratory to study the effects of the enzyme on gene expression. It has been shown to inhibit transcription by binding to the polymerase and inhibiting RNA synthesis. 3',4'-Dihydroxyacetophenone also inhibits acetate extract enzyme activities, such as collagenase, protease, and lipase.
