Sodium saccharin

Description:
Sodium saccharin, with the CAS number 128-44-9, is a synthetic sweetener that belongs to the class of compounds known as sulfonamides. It is characterized by its white crystalline appearance and is highly soluble in water, making it suitable for various applications in food and beverages. Sodium saccharin is approximately 300 to 500 times sweeter than sucrose, which allows for its use in low-calorie and sugar-free products. It is stable under heat and pH variations, which contributes to its versatility in cooking and baking. The compound is often used in combination with other sweeteners to enhance sweetness profiles. While generally recognized as safe by regulatory agencies, some studies have raised concerns about its potential health effects, leading to ongoing research and discussions regarding its long-term consumption. Sodium saccharin is also used in pharmaceuticals and personal care products, highlighting its broad applicability beyond food. Overall, its unique properties make it a widely utilized artificial sweetener in various industries.

  • Saccharin sodium

    CAS:
Saccharin sodium anhydrous is a white, crystalline solid that is used as a low-calorie sweetener. It has been shown to have constant pressure and physiological effects in animals. Saccharin sodium anhydrous has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of infectious diseases such as diarrhoea and bowel disease. Saccharin sodium anhydrous is available commercially as a mixture of saccharin sodium monohydrate and saccharin sodium dihydrate. The optimum concentration for use in treating infectious diseases is 0.1%. Saccharin sodium anhydrous can be prepared by reacting chitosan with ammonium hydroxide at high temperature and pressure, followed by hydrolysis of the quaternary ammonium salt under acidic conditions. The resulting product can be purified by recrystallization from water or ethanol, followed by drying under vacuum at room temperature or below. Saccharin sodium anhydrous has been found to
