Applications Phosphorus pentasulfide is used as a catalyst and reagent to synthesize dithiocarboxylic esters (e.g.: 2,2'-Dithiobisbenzoic Acid [D493990]). Phosphorus pentasulfide is also used as a selective reagent to reduce sulfoxides to sulfides.
