Description:
L-Aspartyl-L-phenylalanine, commonly known as aspartame, is a low-calorie artificial sweetener widely used in food and beverage products. It is a dipeptide composed of the amino acids L-aspartic acid and L-phenylalanine, linked by a peptide bond. This compound is characterized by its sweet taste, which is approximately 200 times sweeter than sucrose, making it an effective sugar substitute. It is soluble in water, which enhances its utility in various formulations.
