CAS:
Lubiprostone is a drug that has been approved in the United States for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation. It is a synthetic analog of prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) that acts to increase natural fluid secretion into the bowel by activating ClC-2 chloride channels on the apical surface of intestinal cells. Lubiprostone also increases mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibits atherosclerotic lesion formation. In a clinical trial, patients were randomly assigned to receive either lubiprostone or placebo for six weeks. The lubiprostone group had significant improvement in their symptoms and quality of life compared to those who received placebo. Results from this study suggest that lubiprostone may be an effective treatment for patients with bowel disease.
Formula:C20H32F2O5Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:390.46 g/mol7-((1R,2R,3R)-2-(4,4-Difluoro-3-oxooctyl)-3-hydroxy-5-oxocyclopentyl)heptanoic acid
