Description:
Polymyxin B is a cyclic polypeptide antibiotic primarily used to treat infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria. It is derived from the bacterium Bacillus polymyxa and exhibits a unique structure characterized by a hydrophobic tail and a positively charged peptide ring, which allows it to disrupt bacterial cell membranes.
