:Rhodium, tetracarbonyldi-μ-chlorodi-
Description:
Rhodium, tetracarbonyldi-μ-chlorodi- is a coordination compound featuring rhodium as the central metal atom, coordinated by carbon monoxide (CO) ligands and chloride ions. This compound is characterized by its unique structure, where two rhodium centers are bridged by two chloride ions, and each rhodium atom is further coordinated to two carbon monoxide ligands. The presence of carbon monoxide contributes to the compound's stability and its ability to participate in various chemical reactions, including catalytic processes. Rhodium complexes are known for their applications in catalysis, particularly in organic synthesis and industrial processes, due to their ability to facilitate reactions such as hydrogenation and carbonylation. The tetracarbonyldi-μ-chlorodi- designation indicates the specific arrangement of ligands around the rhodium centers, which influences the compound's reactivity and properties. Overall, this compound exemplifies the rich chemistry of transition metal complexes, particularly those involving rhodium, which is valued for its catalytic capabilities and unique electronic properties.

CAS:
Di-¼-chloro-tetracarbonyldirhodium(I) is a compound that has been shown to catalyze the carbonylation of various organic substrates in the presence of oxygen. In the presence of a catalytic amount of di-¼-chloro-tetracarbonyldirhodium(I), aniline was converted to 4,4'-dichlorobenzophenone with a yield of 43%. The same reaction also produced 3,3'-dichlorobenzophenone and 2,2'-dichlorobenzophenone as side products. The compound was obtained by reacting hexanes with chlorodirhodium trichloride in the presence of air. The structural analysis was performed using x-ray diffraction technique on an orange powder. It was found that the compound crystallizes in a monoclinic space group with unit cell dimensions a=7.5 Å
Formula:C4Cl2O4Rh2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:388.76 g/mol
