:Rifamycin sodium
Description:
Rifamycin sodium is an antibiotic compound primarily used in the treatment of bacterial infections, particularly those caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium responsible for tuberculosis. It belongs to the rifamycin class of antibiotics, which are characterized by their ability to inhibit bacterial RNA synthesis by binding to the DNA-dependent RNA polymerase enzyme. This mechanism of action makes rifamycins effective against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria. Rifamycin sodium is typically administered in its sodium salt form to enhance solubility and bioavailability. It is often used in combination with other antitubercular agents to prevent the development of drug resistance. The compound is known for its potential side effects, which can include liver toxicity and interactions with other medications due to its effect on liver enzymes. Additionally, it is important to monitor patients for signs of hypersensitivity reactions. Overall, rifamycin sodium is a critical component in the management of tuberculosis and other bacterial infections, contributing significantly to public health efforts against these diseases.

CAS:
Rifamycin SV sodium is a hydroxide solution of the antibiotic rifamycin. Rifamycin SV sodium inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. The high frequency of human activity has been shown using a patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes. This active form is metabolized through a number of metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid. Rifapentine also specifically binds to markers expressed at high levels in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains (e.g., ESX-1 secretion system protein) and inhibits cell growth in culture.
Formula:C37H46NNaO12Purity:Min 900U/MgColor and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:719.75 g/molRifamycin SV sodium - Bio-X ™
