3-Aminopyrazole is a redox potential small molecule drug that has been shown to have tuberculostatic activity. It binds to the 5-HT2 receptor on the surface of tumor cells, which causes an increase in intracellular calcium levels and cell death. 3-Aminopyrazole also inhibits growth factor production, and this may be a part of its mechanism of action. 3-Aminopyrazole has been shown to be active against gram positive bacteria such as staphylococcus aureus and streptococcus pneumoniae. It also shows antimicrobial activity against gram negative bacteria such as pseudomonas aeruginosa, e.g., in vitro assays.
