:1,3,4-Tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-2-fluoro-L-fucose
Description:
1,3,4-Tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-2-fluoro-L-fucose is a synthetic derivative of the naturally occurring sugar fucose, modified to include acetyl groups and a fluorine atom. This compound features a fucose backbone, which is a six-carbon sugar, with hydroxyl groups replaced by acetyl groups at the 1, 3, and 4 positions, enhancing its stability and lipophilicity. The substitution of a fluorine atom at the 2-position introduces unique properties, such as altered reactivity and potential biological activity, making it of interest in medicinal chemistry and glycoscience. The presence of acetyl groups can also influence solubility and permeability, which are critical for drug development. This compound is typically characterized by techniques such as NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and IR spectroscopy to confirm its structure and purity. Its applications may extend to research in glycoprotein synthesis, vaccine development, and as a potential therapeutic agent due to its modified sugar structure.

CAS:Peracetylated 2-fluoro-L-fucose is the acetylated form of 2-deoxy-2-fluoro-L-fucose which is a potent inhibitor of protein fucosylation. It exhibits improved cell permeability and is rapidly deacetylated into its active form, inside the cell. It is metabolised inside the cell into a corresponding donor substrate analogue of GDP-fucose or GDP-2FF, via the salvage pathway. GDP-2FF accumulates in the cell causing a shutdown of de novo pathway which leads to the desired fucosylation inhibition. The addition of 100 uM peracetylated-2-fluoro-L-fucose to plants severely inhibits root growth by 95% compared to an untreated plant, and is more potent compared to 2-fluoro-L-fucose. The material is soluble in DMSO at 10mg/ml.Formula:C12H17FO7Purity:Min. 97 Area-%Color and Shape:White Off-White PowderMolecular weight:292.26 g/mol2,6-Dideoxy-2-fluoro-L-galactopyranose 1,3,4-Triacetate
