It binds to the active site of the enzyme and prevents it from catalyzing chemical reactions with other molecules. 2-Amino-3-bromobenzoic acid has been shown to bind to dehydrogenases of both the NADH and NADPH type, with IC50 values in the low micromolar range. The crystal structure of 2-amino-3-bromobenzoic acid bound to one conformer of the enzyme has been determined.
