:Cyproterone
Description:
Cyproterone is a synthetic steroidal antiandrogen and progestin, primarily used in the treatment of conditions related to excessive androgen levels, such as hirsutism, acne, and certain types of hair loss in women. It is also utilized in hormone therapy for transgender women and in the management of prostate cancer. Chemically, cyproterone is characterized by its ability to inhibit the action of androgens by blocking androgen receptors and reducing testosterone production. It has a molecular formula that includes carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, and its structure features a cyclopentanoperhydrophenanthrene core typical of steroid compounds. Cyproterone is administered orally or via injection, and its pharmacological effects include antiandrogenic, anti-inflammatory, and progestational properties. Side effects may include weight gain, mood changes, and potential impacts on liver function, necessitating monitoring during treatment. Overall, cyproterone is a significant compound in endocrinology and reproductive health, demonstrating the complex interplay of hormones in human physiology.

CAS:Controlled Product
Cyproterone is a steroidal anti-androgen that is used in the treatment of prostate cancer and other diseases. Cyproterone acetate (CPA) is an ester prodrug of cyproterone, which has been used as a contraceptive for more than 25 years. It binds to cytoplasmic receptors, blocking the effects of androgens on these receptors. CPA also inhibits transcriptional regulation by reducing the basal level of androgen receptor expression in target tissues. Cyproterone acetate has been shown to inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells through its ability to bind to and activate growth factor-β1 (GF-β1). CPA also has been shown to have positive effects on energy metabolism by regulating the activity of enzymes in this process. Cyproterone acetate is not active against many Gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
Formula:C22H27ClO3Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:374.9 g/molCyproterone-13C2,d8
