:Clothianidin
Description:
Clothianidin is a systemic insecticide belonging to the neonicotinoid class, primarily used for pest control in agriculture. It acts on the nervous system of insects by binding to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, leading to paralysis and death. This compound is characterized by its relatively low toxicity to mammals and birds, but it poses significant risks to non-target organisms, particularly pollinators like bees. Clothianidin is typically applied as a seed treatment or foliar spray, providing effective control against a variety of pests, including aphids and beetles. Its chemical structure includes a nitro group and a chloropyridinyl moiety, contributing to its insecticidal properties. The substance is stable under normal conditions but can degrade in the environment, with its persistence influenced by factors such as soil type and microbial activity. Due to concerns regarding its environmental impact, particularly on pollinator health, the use of clothianidin is subject to regulatory scrutiny in various regions.

CAS:
Clothianidin is a neonicotinoid insecticide that inhibits the acetylcholinesterase enzyme, which is responsible for the breakdown of acetylcholine, thereby preventing nerve impulses. Clothianidin has been shown to be highly toxic to honeybees, with levels of toxicity similar to those of imidacloprid. Clothianidin has also been shown to accumulate in soil and water at high concentrations, with potential adverse effects on the environment. Clothianidin is applied as an insecticide to crops and lawns in order to control pests such as aphids, leafhoppers, tree borers, thrips, and whiteflies. The toxicity of this pesticide can be reduced by co-application with other pesticides or by diluting it in water before use.
Formula:C6H8ClN5O2SPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:249.68 g/mol
