:4-[(3-Pyridinylcarbonyl)amino]butanoic acid
Description:
4-[(3-Pyridinylcarbonyl)amino]butanoic acid, also known by its CAS number 34562-97-5, is an organic compound characterized by its structure, which includes a butanoic acid backbone with an amino group and a pyridinylcarbonyl substituent. This compound typically exhibits properties such as being a solid at room temperature, with potential solubility in polar solvents due to the presence of both carboxylic acid and amino functional groups. The pyridine ring contributes to its aromatic character, which can influence its reactivity and interactions with biological systems. As an amino acid derivative, it may participate in various biochemical processes, potentially acting as a building block for peptides or influencing metabolic pathways. Its specific applications can vary, but it may be of interest in pharmaceutical research or as a biochemical probe due to its structural features. Safety data should be consulted for handling and usage, as with any chemical substance.

CAS:
4-[(Pyridine-3-carbonyl)amino]butyric acid (4-PBA) is a non-proteinogenic amino acid that has been found in food and has been shown to have therapeutic effects on a number of diseases. 4-PBA is converted to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) by the enzyme GABA transaminase. It also has a synergistic effect with sodium succinate, which is another precursor in the production of GABA. This synergistic effect increases the amount of GABA produced from 4-PBA and sodium succinate when they are consumed together. 4-PBA also binds to receptors for dopamine, which may be why it is effective for treating diabetic neuropathy and Parkinson's disease.
Formula:C10H12N2O3Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:208.21 g/mol4-(Nicotinamido)butanoic acid
