CAS:Controlled ProductRibavirin is a guanosine nucleoside analog with broad-spectrum antiviral properties. Ribavirin gets phosphorylated to ribavirin triphosphate in cells and competes with natural nucleotides for incorporation in a nascent RNA chain, thus interfering with RNA synthesis by inhibiting viral RNA polymerases. Ribavirin is also an inhibitor of inosinate dehydrogenase (IMP), which is involved in the biosynthesis of GTP.
