This interaction leads to a change in the magnetic resonance signal and can be used as a diagnostic tool for Alzheimer's disease. 4-(1,3-Benzothiazol-2-yl)-N-methylaniline has also been shown to significantly reduce neurofibrillary tangles in human brains and may have therapeutic potential because of its ability to cross the blood brain barrier.
