:Estradiol benzoate
Description:
Estradiol benzoate is a synthetic derivative of estradiol, a naturally occurring estrogen hormone. It is characterized by its benzoate ester form, which enhances its lipid solubility and alters its pharmacokinetic properties. This compound typically appears as a white to off-white crystalline powder and is often used in hormone replacement therapy and in veterinary medicine for reproductive management. Estradiol benzoate is known for its ability to bind to estrogen receptors, thereby exerting estrogenic effects in target tissues. Its solubility in organic solvents, such as ethanol and chloroform, allows for various formulation options, including injectable preparations. The compound is generally stable under normal conditions but should be stored away from light and moisture to maintain its efficacy. As with other estrogens, it may have side effects and contraindications, necessitating careful consideration in therapeutic applications. Overall, estradiol benzoate plays a significant role in both human and animal health, particularly in managing hormonal imbalances.

CAS:
Estradiol benzoate is a mixture of estradiol and benzoate that is used in veterinary medicine. It has been used to treat bowel disease in animals, as well as to induce estrus in animals. Estradiol benzoate has been shown to be effective at preventing ovariectomy-induced bone loss, but it is not clear if this effect is due to its estrogenic or progestational activity. The estrogenic and progestational effects of estradiol benzoate are thought to be due to its ability to bind with high affinity to the estrogen receptor, which prevents binding of other ligands such as estradiol and progesterone. Estradiol benzoate can also bind with high affinity to the progesterone receptor, leading to a decrease in serum prolactin levels and an increase in ovarian activity.
Formula:C25H28O3Purity:Min. 97 Area-%Color and Shape:White Off-White PowderMolecular weight:376.49 g/mol
