CAS:Sulfaphenazole is an antibacterial drug that belongs to the group of sulfonamides. It inhibits bacterial growth by competitively inhibiting the synthesis of folic acid in bacteria, which is required for protein synthesis and cell division. Sulfaphenazole has been shown to inhibit a number of enzymes, such as P450 activity, catalysed by cytochrome P450 enzymes. It also inhibits the mitochondrial membrane potential, which is vital for oxidative phosphorylation. Sulfaphenazole has shown inhibitory properties against kidney fibrosis and may be useful in treating kidney failure due to diabetes or hypertension. This drug is also used as an oral hypoglycaemic agent and to treat complications from myocardial infarcts such as autophagy.Formula:C15H14N4O2SPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:314.36 g/mol4-amino-N-(1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)benzenesulfonamide
