:Cefazedone
Description:
Cefazedone is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic, classified under the beta-lactam antibiotics. It is primarily used to treat various bacterial infections by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, which ultimately leads to cell lysis and death. Cefazedone exhibits a wide range of activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, making it effective for treating infections caused by a variety of pathogens. The compound is characterized by its stability against certain beta-lactamases, which are enzymes produced by some bacteria to confer resistance to antibiotics. Cefazedone is typically administered via injection and is known for its relatively low toxicity profile. However, like other antibiotics, it may cause side effects such as allergic reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, and alterations in normal flora. Its pharmacokinetics involve absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion, which are crucial for determining dosing regimens. Overall, cefazedone represents an important therapeutic option in the arsenal against bacterial infections, particularly in cases where resistance to other antibiotics is a concern.

CAS:
Cefazedone is an inorganic acid that has been used as an antimicrobial agent. It is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in water and practically insoluble in organic solvents. Cefazedone has been shown to have excellent bactericidal activity against many urinary tract infections, including Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter species, Proteus mirabilis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This drug has also been shown to have good activity against pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. Cefazedone does not show any adverse effects on human serum or urine samples from healthy volunteers. Toxicological studies on rats showed no evidence of toxicity or teratogenicity due to cefazedone.
Formula:C18H15Cl2N5O5S3Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:548.45 g/mol(7S)-Cefazedone
