CAS 62-44-2
:Phenacetin
Description:
Phenacetin, with the CAS number 62-44-2, is an organic compound that belongs to the class of analgesics and antipyretics. It is a white, crystalline powder that is slightly soluble in water but more soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and chloroform. Phenacetin has a molecular formula of C10H13NO2 and features an acetamide group, which contributes to its pain-relieving properties. Historically, it was widely used to alleviate pain and reduce fever; however, its use has declined due to safety concerns, particularly its association with renal toxicity and potential carcinogenic effects. Phenacetin is metabolized in the body to produce paracetamol (acetaminophen), which is a safer alternative and is commonly used today. The compound has a melting point that typically falls within a specific range, indicating its solid-state characteristics at room temperature. Due to its historical significance and the shift in medical practices, phenacetin is now less commonly found in over-the-counter medications.

4-(Acetylamino)phenetole
CAS:
4-(Acetylamino)phenetole is a drug that belongs to the class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is a reactive, toxic chemical that has been shown to inhibit ATP binding cassette transporter (ABC) proteins and can be used for treatment of pain. 4-(Acetylamino)phenetole inhibits cellular energy metabolism by inhibiting an enzyme in the electron transport chain, which prevents the formation of reactive oxygen species necessary for cell growth. 4-(Acetylamino)phenetole also binds to DNA and reduces the transcriptional activity of certain genes. This drug has been found to show cytotoxicity in solid tumours and can be used as a chemotherapeutic agent.
Formula:C10H13NO2Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:179.22 g/molEPA Method 8270 Calibration by Class Mixture 4 2000 µg/mL in Dichloromethane
