Imiprothrin

Description:
Imiprothrin is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide, primarily used for its effectiveness in controlling a variety of pests. It is characterized by its ability to disrupt the nervous system of insects, leading to paralysis and death. Imiprothrin is known for its rapid knockdown effect and relatively low toxicity to mammals, making it a popular choice in household and agricultural pest control. The compound is typically formulated as a liquid or aerosol and is often combined with other insecticides to enhance efficacy. Its mode of action involves the modulation of sodium channels in insect neurons, which results in prolonged nerve impulses. Imiprothrin is also noted for its stability under various environmental conditions, although it can degrade when exposed to sunlight and moisture over time. Safety measures should be observed during handling, as with all pesticides, to minimize potential risks to non-target organisms and the environment. Overall, imiprothrin represents a valuable tool in integrated pest management strategies.

  • Imiprothrin

    CAS:
IMiprothrin is a potent inhibitor of the mitochondrial cytochrome P450 system that is used as a topical insecticide. It has been shown to have carcinogenic potential in vivo and in vitro, and has been found to be toxic to mammalian cells. IMiprothrin is not absorbed through the skin, but can be absorbed through the lungs or gastrointestinal tract. The chronic oral LD50 for IMiprothrin is greater than 5,000 mg/kg for rats, which indicates that it does not have significant acute toxicity. However, it does have chronic toxicity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit drug transporter proteins such as P-glycoprotein and BCRP.
