neurotensin fragment 1-8

Description:
Neurotensin fragment 1-8, with the CAS number 80887-44-1, is a peptide derived from the neurotensin molecule, which is a neuropeptide involved in various physiological processes, including the modulation of pain, regulation of body temperature, and influence on the endocrine system. This specific fragment consists of the first eight amino acids of the neurotensin sequence, retaining some of the biological activity associated with the full-length peptide. Characteristically, it exhibits a relatively small molecular size, which allows it to interact with neurotensin receptors in the central nervous system. The peptide is typically soluble in aqueous solutions and may exhibit stability under physiological conditions. Its biological functions are linked to neurotransmission and may play a role in gastrointestinal motility and the modulation of dopaminergic pathways. Research into neurotensin and its fragments continues to explore their potential therapeutic applications, particularly in the context of neuropsychiatric disorders and metabolic regulation.

    CAS:

Neurotensin (NT) is a peptide that has been implicated in the regulation of feeding behavior, cardiovascular function, and pain perception. The neurotensin receptor is a G-protein coupled receptor with seven transmembrane domains. Neurotensin binds to the receptor and activates it by inducing intracellular calcium mobilization and neurotransmitter release. This activation can be dose-dependent, as seen in experiments using rat brain slices incubated with different concentrations of NT. Neurotensin also induces maximal activation at low concentrations, which may be due to its ability to bind to both extracellular and intracellular receptors. NT binds selectively to ventral tegmental area neurons from rats, leading to increased spontaneous firing rates. Cancer cells have been shown to express high levels of neurotensin receptors on their surface membrane, which may contribute to tumorigenesis and metastasis. Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease are thought to involve alterations in the expression or
