:Bretazenil
Description:
Bretazenil is a chemical compound classified as a benzodiazepine derivative, primarily known for its anxiolytic and sedative properties. It acts as a selective modulator of the GABA-A receptor, enhancing the inhibitory effects of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the central nervous system. This modulation leads to a calming effect, making it useful in the treatment of anxiety and related disorders. Bretazenil is characterized by its relatively short duration of action compared to other benzodiazepines, which may reduce the risk of dependence. The compound is typically administered in a controlled medical setting due to its psychoactive effects. Its pharmacokinetics, including absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion, are important for understanding its therapeutic applications and potential side effects. As with other benzodiazepines, caution is advised regarding its use, particularly in patients with a history of substance abuse or those taking other central nervous system depressants. Overall, Bretazenil represents a significant area of interest in pharmacology for its potential benefits and risks in anxiety management.

Bretazenil
CAS:Controlled Product
Bretazenil is a benzodiazepine that binds to the GABA receptor. It is used as a sedative and an antidote for benzodiazepine overdoses. Bretazenil has been shown to have low potency, only binding to the α1 subunit of the GABA receptor. This drug also has a high affinity for δ receptors, which may be responsible for its locomotor effects and ability to reverse triazolam-induced amnesia. Chronic exposure to this drug can lead to tolerance, which may be due to the development of benzodiazepine or δ receptors. Bretazenil has been shown to have low potency in experimental models, but is still able to produce sedation in rats when given at doses of 0.01 mg/kg.
Formula:C19H20BrN3O3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:418.28 g/mol
