Sulfaquinoxaline sodium

Description:
Sulfaquinoxaline sodium is a sulfonamide antibiotic primarily used in veterinary medicine, particularly for the treatment of coccidiosis in poultry and other livestock. It is a sodium salt of sulfaquinoxaline, which is a synthetic derivative of sulfanilamide. The compound exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity by inhibiting bacterial dihydropteroate synthase, an enzyme critical for folate synthesis, thereby disrupting nucleic acid synthesis in bacteria. Sulfaquinoxaline sodium is typically administered orally or through feed and is known for its relatively low toxicity in animals when used at recommended dosages. It is soluble in water, which facilitates its incorporation into animal feed. However, its use is regulated in food-producing animals due to potential residues in meat and eggs, necessitating adherence to withdrawal times before slaughter. Additionally, resistance development in pathogens is a concern, prompting careful management of its use in veterinary practices. Overall, sulfaquinoxaline sodium plays a significant role in animal health, particularly in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.

  • Sulfaquinoxaline sodium salt

    CAS:

Sulfaquinoxaline sodium salt is a dpp-iv inhibitor that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. The drug inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase 4, which is involved in the degradation of immunoreactive insulin and glucagon-like peptide-1. Sulfaquinoxaline sodium salt produces an antimicrobial effect by inhibiting microbial growth and also has a synergic effect with other antibiotics such as amoxicillin. As well as being used to treat bowel diseases, sulfaquinoxaline sodium salt is also used for sample preparation before DNA or RNA extraction. It can be used as a co-substrate with sodium carbonate to precipitate proteins in biological samples, such as urine or stool samples, or wastewater before treatment.
