4,6-Diazaspiro[2.4]heptane-5,7-dione is the target product of a chemical reaction that starts with sodium hydroxide solution and sodium hydroxide. The target product is produced by the aminolysis of an acid ethyl ester and an amide in the presence of a hydroxide. It can also be obtained through the ethylation of an hydroxide solution or by acidification of an ethyl ester. 4,6-Diazaspiro[2.4]heptane-5,7-dione is a white crystalline solid with a melting point of 68°C. It has low toxicity and is soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, ethers, chloroform, benzene and toluene.
