2-[(2,5-Dichlorophenyl)sulfanyl]propanoic acid is a small molecule that is used as a research tool in the study of ion channels and protein interactions. It is a potent activator of the GABAA receptor and has been shown to inhibit L-type calcium channels. 2-[(2,5-Dichlorophenyl)sulfanyl]propanoic acid binds to the extracellular loops of receptors such as GABA-A, glycine, NMDA, and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This drug has also been shown to be an inhibitor for alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methylisoxazole (AMPA) receptor channels.
