It is a cross-coupling partner in Suzuki and Sonogashira reactions. 2,6-Dichloropyridine-3-carboxamide can be prepared by the reaction of an aryl boronic acid with 2,6-dichloropyridine. This reaction proceeds smoothly at room temperature and has been shown to proceed with high yield. The compound was also found to inhibit tyrosine kinase activity when expressed in cells. It is an organometallic molecule that contains a pyridinium group and an alkene section.
