The yield of this reaction is low, which may be due to the imidazole ring being a poor nucleophile in this reaction. This chemical has been shown to have an inhibitory potency against xanthine oxidase and nitric oxide synthase, which may be due to its functional groups or dimethylformamide solvate state.
