It can be used to detect the presence of lung cancer cells by binding to a protein called Vegf, which is expressed in these cells. In mice with xenografts of human lung cancer cells, 6-fluoro-2-oxo-2H-chromene 3 carboxylic acid (6FO) was injected intravenously and taken up by the tumor.
