Nitrosamines and Derivatives
Nitrosamines are chemical compounds that contain a nitroso group (-NO) attached to a nitrogen atom, usually within a heterocyclic structure. These substances commonly form as by-products of chemical reactions, such as the nitrosation of amines in the presence of nitrites. Nitrosamines are known for their high toxicity and carcinogenic properties, especially in living organisms. Due to these effects, their presence in food products, cosmetics, and tobacco is strictly regulated. Nitrosamine derivatives, such as nitrosamides, also exhibit carcinogenic properties and may form in industrial processes, although some derivatives are being investigated for pharmaceutical applications due to their potential in certain biological reactions.
At CymitQuimica, we offer nitrosamines and their derivatives for research in toxicology, analytical chemistry, and pharmacology.
