In addition, Huwentoxin XVI has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on adipose tissue and is thought to be a potential treatment for obesity-associated chronic pain. Huwentoxin XVI also blocks A-type potassium channels, which are responsible for neuronal transmission and are found in neurons and glial cells in the dorsal root ganglia. This inhibition can lead to neuropathic pain or chronic pain caused by nerve damage.
