Peptides

Peptides are short chains of amino acids linked by peptide bonds, serving as important biological molecules that play key roles in cellular processes. They function as hormones, neurotransmitters, and signaling molecules, and are widely used in therapeutic and diagnostic applications. Peptides are also crucial in research for studying protein interactions, enzyme activities, and cell signaling pathways. At CymitQuimica, we provide a diverse selection of high-quality peptides to support your research and development needs in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

  • Antipain

    CAS:

Antipain is a proteolytic enzyme that hydrolyzes peptide bonds in proteins. It is a member of the papain family of proteases and has been shown to activate peptides and inhibit ion channels, both of which are important for cell biology research. Antipain, an inhibitor of protein synthesis, is also used as a research tool in cell biology and biochemistry.

  • Bombesin

Bombesin is a small peptide that was first isolated from the skin of a frog, Bombina bombina, with homologs later found to be present in mammalian tissues, including the brain and gastrointestinal tract. It is a member of the bombesin-like peptide family, which includes several related peptides such as gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) and neuromedin B.
Bombesin acts as a neuromodulator and regulates various physiological functions, including gastrointestinal motility and stimulation of gastrin release from G cells. It also plays a role in the regulation of cardiovascular function and neurotransmitter release. In addition, bombesin has been shown to stimulate the growth and proliferation of certain types of cancer cells, including prostate and lung cancer cells, through its interaction with bombesin receptors. It may therefore be used as a potential biomarker for certain cancers.

  • Suc-Ala-Ala-pNA

    CAS:

Suc-Ala-Ala-pNA is a synthetic peptide that has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes in the metabolic pathway of cholesterol biosynthesis. It also inhibits the activity of phospholipase A2 and cyclooxygenase, which are involved in arachidonic acid metabolism. Suc-Ala-Ala-pNA is a hydrophobic molecule that can be used as an inhibitor for enzymes such as esterases, aminopeptidases, amidases, carboxypeptidases, and proteases. Suc-Ala-Ala-pNA has been shown to have antiatherosclerotic properties because it inhibits the production of lipid peroxides.

  • Obestatin (Rat, Mouse)

    CAS:

Obestatin is a peptide that was originally isolated from rat and mouse brain. It is a potent inhibitor of Kv1.3 and Kv1.5 potassium channels, with an IC50 of about 1 nM for both channels, but has no effect on other ion channels. Obestatin also inhibits the binding of antibodies to epitopes on the surface of cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cell-cell adhesion. The antibody-binding activity of obestatin is also inhibited by peptides corresponding to residues in the N-terminal region of obestatin, but not by peptides corresponding to residues in the C-terminal region. Obestatin has been shown to activate receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) pathways and induce signaling cascades that lead to the proliferation and differentiation of tumor cells.
