2-Phenylbutanoyl)urea is an enzyme inducer that belongs to the group of acidic compounds. It has been shown to be a potent inducer of drug metabolism enzymes, such as cytochrome P450 enzymes and uridine 5'-diphospho-glucuronosyltransferases. 2-Phenylbutanoyl)urea has also been shown to have a significant effect on the pharmacokinetics of drugs that are substrates for these enzymes. This compound is insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents, like acetone. 2-Phenylbutanoyl)urea is soluble in organic solvents, like acetone, and insoluble in water. 2-Phenylbutanoyl)urea is used as a model system for studying enzyme induction by acidic compounds.
