Description:N,N-Dichlorobenzenesulfonamide is a sulfonyl chloride that is used as an additive in the production of cellulose derivatives. The reaction proceeds through a two-step process: first, the chloroalkene reacts with sodium carbonate to form the corresponding sodium salt and an intermediate chloride; secondly, this intermediate chloride reacts with styrene to form N,N-dichlorobenzenesulfonamide. The chemical properties of N,N-dichlorobenzenesulfonamide have been examined by means of kinetic studies and structural analysis. This chemical has shown potential for use as a quaternary ammonium compound.
