δ-Amyrin is a β-amyrin, a triterpene alcohol that is present in plants. It has been suggested to have anti-inflammatory properties and to inhibit lipoprotein lipase activity. δ-Amyrin is found in the leaves of Capsicum annuum (red pepper) and can be extracted with a solvent or by chemical ionization. The compound has been shown to react with carbonyl groups and fatty acids, suggesting it may act as an antioxidant. δ-Amyrin has also been shown to inhibit the growth of murine hepatoma cells through the transcription-polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
