Description

Tilmicosin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It is used in veterinary medicine to treat respiratory infections caused by Clostridium perfringens and other bacteria. Tilmicosin has been shown to inhibit the production of tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and serum enzymes, such as dismutase activity, in mice with lung cancer. This drug also has a toxic effect on respiratory system cells, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis.
