Narasin is a tetracycline antibiotic that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It is used as an experimental model for wastewater treatment and as a tool in cytosolic Ca2+ studies. Narasin also has antimicrobial properties and can be used in vitro assays to study the effects of polymerase chain reaction on microbial growth. Narasin's biological properties have been studied using analytical methods such as molecular docking analysis, which can predict protein-ligand interactions. The compound has been shown to have toxic effects on mouse tumor cells and in vivo models.
