Chloramultilide D is a natural product that has been found in the chloranthus spicatus and other organisms. It is a potent inhibitor of bacterial growth, and has been shown to have activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium avium complex, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Salmonella typhimurium. Chloramultilide D inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It also inhibits the expression of genes that are essential for bacterial growth.
