IK1 inhibitors have been shown to reduce the size of the atria in Sprague-Dawley rats. The effect is dose-dependent and reversible. This effect is caused by a reduction in the activation energy of the cardiac myocytes, which leads to a change in the kinetics of ion channels, as well as changes in intracellular calcium levels. IK1 inhibitors are polymers that contain an array of hydrophilic and hydrophobic segments. This polymer matrix has been shown to be effective for drug delivery to the heart, lungs, and other organs. IK1 inhibitor PA-6 has been shown to be effective for controlling water vapor transport from surfaces due to its high surface methodology and low viscosity properties.
