Description:(S)-Citalopram oxalate or Escitalopram oxalate is the S-enantiomer of racemic Citalopram. It is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor that is used for the treatment of depression and anxiety disorder. Escitalopram enhances serotonergic activity by binding to the primary binding site on the serotonin transporter thus preventing the reuptake of serotonin into the presynaptic neuron.
