MRTX849 is a monoclonal antibody that binds to epidermal growth factor and blocks its interaction with the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). MRTX849 has been shown to have cytostatic effects on cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit EGFR signaling. The MRTX849 antibody has also been shown in animal models of skin cancer, cervical cancer, and myeloid-derived suppressor cells. Clinical trials are currently ongoing for the treatment of solid tumors. MRTX849 has a fatty acid chain at its N-terminus, which is responsible for its effect on skin cancer cells. This antibody has been found to bind specifically to an epitope on EGFR that is not present in other proteins such as fibroblasts or platelets.
