Description:Timolol is an ophthalmic beta-adrenergic blocker that is used to lower the intraocular pressure in patients with glaucoma. It is also used to treat hypertension, as well as other conditions, such as arrhythmias, thyrotoxicosis and angina pectoris. The drug acts by blocking β1-receptors on the surface of heart muscle cells and blood vessels, thereby reducing the workload on the heart and lowering blood pressure.
