Product Information
S6821 is a target cell-specific, DNA-binding agent that is used to inhibit the growth of human cancer cells. It binds to the nucleotide sequence 5'-TTATC-3' in the regulatory region of the gene and prevents transcription. S6821 has been shown to be clastogenic in vitro and in vivo and can cause chromosomal abnormalities. This drug has also been shown to be toxic for humans, so toxicity studies are recommended before administration. S6821 is an analog of a natural product (squalene) and may be metabolized by conjugation with glucuronic acid or hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases. It inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, and TNFα at high concentrations, but may induce some adverse effects such as liver toxicity when given orally.
